Watertown Cable Starts Camp for Youngsters to Learn TV Production

At the new camp students will learn how to use equipment and produce a television show.

If you are looking for a new kind of summer camp, Watertown Cable may have something right up your alley.

WCAC-TV will host a summer camp for 9- to 15-year olds interested in learning how to make a television program, said Helen Chatel, executive director of Watertown Cable.

In the frist wee, they will leran the basics of television production, including how to operate cameras in the field and in the studio.

Then they will make their own show, from start to finish, Chatel said. 

During the second week, they will work with the Watertown Children's Theatre and film and edit a theatrical production so it can be show on WCAC's public channel, Chatel said.

Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Children must pack a lunch and a snack for the day. 

Camp is $200 a session (a session is 2 weeks) with a maximum of 10 students and a minimum of seven students. Students must attend both weeks.
