Watertown Police Log: Car Shot Up by BB Gun, Purse Stolen and More

Arrests
May 3, 1:01 a.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square spotted a car on North Beacon Street make an erratic turn against the light and when the officer pulled the vehicle over a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the driver's breath, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Field sobriety tests were given and an arrest was made. Eric John Potvin, 44, of 94 Buff St. in Salem, N.H., was booked on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and two counts of failing to stop or yield.

May 4, 1:22 a.m.: An officer spotted a car speeding near Watertown Street and driving at night with headlights off, and then the car did not fully stop at Cross Street and Pleasant Street, Grady said. When the car was pulled over the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. Field sobriety tests were given and the driver was arrested. Yulian G. Kirilov, 31, of 247 Brown St. Apt. 2 in Waltham, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and a headlights violation.
May 5, 7:21 p.m.: A car driving on North Beacon Street was spotted going through a red light, Grady said. The officer checked the registration and noticed that the owner of the car had a revoked licence for multiple traffic offenses, Grady said. Ryan T. Lees, 38, of 141 Morse St. in Watertown, was arrested on charges of driving with a revoked license and failing to stop.

Incidents
April 30, 5:50 p.m.: A woman shopping at Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street came out into the parking lot and heard a car alarm going off, Grady said, and when she got closer she realized it was her car. Someone had taken her Coach purse from the car, which contained credit cards and personal papers. The care was locked.
May 3, 2:28 a.m.: A group of men in their 20s came into Tedeschi's and paid for some items, but also took about $23 worth of sandwiches and chips that they had not paid for, Grady said.
May 4, 3:02 p.m.: A juvenile stole an iPhone from the Boy's & Girls Club, Grady said.
May 4, 6:24 p.m.: A shopper went into the restroom at the Arsenal Mall and after leaving realized he had left his wallet and cell phone in the bathroom, Grady said. When he went back, about 10 minutes later, both items were gone.
May 5, 2:02 p.m.: Someone shot BBs or pellets into the passenger side of a 1999 Subaru while it was parked on Hovey Street, Grady said. Two windows were shattered.
May 5, 5:49 p.m.: Security at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street spotted a shopper take $26 worth of items and try to leave without paying, Grady said. The store chose not to press charges on the man from North Adams, but asked the man to be trespassed out of the store and have him banned for a year.
