Watertown Police Log: Mother's Wallet Stolen While Shoe Shopping and More

Arrests
May 21, 10:57 a.m.: A woman got her nails done at Golden Nail Salon in the Watertown Mall and when it was finished she started to walk out of the store without paying, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. An employee asked if she was going to pay, and the customer said she had no money. She went into a bathroom and hid, and meanwhile the police showed up. She told them she had no money and “it was not a big deal,” Lawn said. The officers discovered she had clothes in her bag with the price tags still attached, worth less than $100. Shataye L. Waites, 24, of 8 Mallard Ave. Apt. 3 in Boston was arrested on charges of larceny under $250 and receiving stolen property under $250.

May 21, 3:49 p.m.: Police were called to Best Buy when security caught a man taking a pair of headphones, Lawn said. The man took the Beats headphones, worth $149.99 and tried to remove the security cable. Police found the headphones in his bag, Lawn said. Jeramie A. Croft, 24, of 129 Crawford St in Roxbury, was arrested for shoplifting by concealment, a second offense.

Incidents
May 21, 1:27 p.m.: A Dana Terrace resident discovered three pieces of jewelry missing from her home, Lawn said. A diamond bracelet worth $99, a diamond ring worth $499, and a gold charm and necklace worth $399 went missing. There were no signs of forced entry.
May 23, 9:53 a.m.: A Stoneleigh Road resident woke up and discovered a window on her closed front porch had been broken, Lawn said. It is not clear what broke the window.
May 23, 6:45 p.m.: A Fifield Street resident found the front door open and someone had rummaged through the glove compartment, Lawn said. Nothing was reported missing and there were no signs of forced entry.
May 25, 4:41 p.m.: A woman shopping at Children’s Stride Rite put her handbag on the floor while she was looking at shoes. When she went to chase down one of her kids she came back and discovered her wallet was missing from her handbag, Lawn said. The wallet contained $140 in cash, a credit card and a debit card.
