Watertown Police Log: Shoplifter Caught with Nearly $400 in Groceries and More

Arrests
May 29, 6:59 a.m.: Police were called to a medical incident in the back of a cab on Mt. Auburn Street and when they arrived the taxi driver said the man had tried to run away without paying a $41 fare from Brookline, Grady said. The man was taken into protective custody for being intoxicated, and also charged. Brian M. Straw, 46, of 9 Belcher Cir. in Ashland, was arrested on a charge of taxi fare evasion and two outstanding warrants from Quincy District Court.
May 31, 5:16 p.m.: An officer spotted a man that he knew had an outstanding arrest warrant near the intersection of Nichols Avenue and Dexter Avenue, Grady said. Trevor C. Powell, 25, of 83 Gordon St. Apt. 7 in Allston, was arrested on a warrant out of Charlestown District Court for traffic offenses.

May 31, 9:14 p.m.: A man went to Stop & Shop on Watertown Street and paid for $12 of groceries but had $52 worth of items, Grady said. He was stopped and arrested. Nicolae Truhanov, 31, of 37 Union St. in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealment.
June 2, 6:08 a.m.: Police learned that a man with a probation warrant was in town and placed him under arrest, Grady said. Shahid Muneer, 36, of 40 Bridge St. in Watertown, was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

Incidents
May 30, 7:38 p.m.: A 2005 Hyundai was scratched the entire length of both sides of the car while parked at the Arsenal Mall, Grady said.
May 30, 10:40 p.m.: Three of four tires on a 2008 Toyota Corolla were slashed while parked on Bradshaw Street, Grady said.
May 31, 9:29 a.m.: A large rock was thrown through the glass door of a home on Morse Street, Grady said.
June 1, 2:35 a.m.: Someone threw six to eight eggs on a 1993 Range Rover parked on Mt. Auburn Street.
June 1, 4:10 p.m.: Two people got into a disagreement when one came to collect a check left at one of the charitable donation pods in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street. Both were told they could file charges at Waltham District Court.
June 2, 9:38 a.m.: A car parked in the lot for apartments on Whites Avenue, near the Linear Park had three of four tires slashed, Gray said.
June 2, 7:44 p.m.: Bradshaw Street residents discovered the door to their home slightly ajar and said that someone got in and took $500 in cash and a piece of jewelry, Grady said. Police are investigating.
