Board of School Estimate Budget Approval Means $31.89 Taxpayer Increase
The Board of School Estimate approved the 2013-2014 budget which calls for an increase of $31.89 per year on the average Summit home.

During a meeting in City Hall on Monday evening, March 25th, the Board of School Estimate approved the school budget for the 2013-2014 school year.
Business Administrator, Lou Pepe, and Assistant Business Administrator, Donna Schneider, reviewed the basic facts of the budget, which had been approved by the Union County Office on March 14th, without changes. It was first presented to the Board of School Estimate on Thursday, March 7.

As Ms. Schneider stated, the tax increase associated with the budget, based on the fiscal year, is 1.88% or $1.1 million. The calendar year increase is .94% or $31.89 on the average home, assessed at $410,000.
Mayor Dickson thanked the Board of Education, Business Office and administration for their diligence and fiscal responsibility in preparing the budget. The mayor attributed much of the increase to new staffing needs at Summit High School, due to higher enrollments.

The Board of School Estimate is comprised of Mayor Ellen Dickson, Councilmen Dave Bomgaars and Dr. Rob Rubino and Board of Education members George Lucaci (President) and Ed Mokuvos.
