Summit To Hold Chinese New Year Celebration: Live Music, Dancing
This year's outdoor celebration in downtown Summit will feature a KungFu performance, a lion dance, live music and much more.
SUMMIT, NJ — A Chinese New Year celebration will be held in downtown Summit on March 20, featuring live music, a Kungfu performance, dancing and many more festivities.
Organized by the Summit Chinese American Association, the annual gathering is opening to anyone in Summit and neighboring towns. The celebration will take place on Sunday, March 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Park & Shop Lot #1 on the corner of Deforest and Woodland Ave.
Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, fell on Feb. 2 this year, marking the year of the tiger. This is typically a 15-day celebration in Chinese communities around the world that begins with the new moon.

This year, Summit's event will be held outdoors with live music. The event will include a Chinese Kungfu performance, a lion dance and a dragon dance performance.
Summit Chinese American Association members will also demonstrate traditional Chinese sports and arts, including shuttlecock, yo-yo, ribbon dance, Tai Chi, diabolo, spinning top and dough figurine making.

The scheduled rain date for the event is March 27.
