Summit Man Plays on Amherst Team as they Win NCAA Division III Championship Title
Tom Killian of Summit played in the NCAA Division III Championship as his Ahmerst college team defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor this Sunday.

Tom Killian of Summit plays forward and guard at Amherst College and competed in this Sunday’s NCAA Division III championship game, where his team the Jeffs' deafeated Mary Hardin-Baylor for the national title.
The Amherst Lord Jeffs claimed the college's second Division III national championship title on Sunday in Atlanta with a 87-70 win.
“The Jeffs made the most of their day on center stage at the NCAA Final Four by blitzing Mary Hardin-Baylor in an 87-70 victory before 6,284 fans at Philips Arena,” Gazette.net reported.
During Sunday's game, Killian shot down three pointers from opponents and also scored two three pointers of his own, according to D3hoops.
Killian, a junior at Amherst, averages 7.1 points per game, 4 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game.
“Junior guards Tom Killian and David Kalema have played an integral role in a balanced Jeff attack, combining for 16 points and nearly eight rebounds a game,” the Jeffs' website states. “Starting all 27 of his appearances, Killian gives Amherst size on the perimeter.”
He was also named to the 2013 NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team and to the 2013 NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.
Sunday’s game was nationally broadcasted on CBS Sports network at 12:30 p.m. on April 7.
According to Gazette.net, "The Jeffs (30-2) wasted little time establishing control of the game, running off the game’s first 10 points to lead from start to finish and match the best single-season win total in school history."
