Charity 5K In Memory Of Late Wyckoff Resident Set By Council

A 5K in honor of Dylan Macaluso, who died in 2015 of an accidental drug overdose, was approved by the Wyckoff Township Council on Tuesday.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Highly personable and voluntarily helping others until the day he died, young Dylan Macaluso, of Wyckoff, is remembered fondly by his family and friends, and that memory led to the creation of the public charity "Never End The Fight," which is hosting a fundraising 5K run/1-mile walk on Oct. 1.

In honor of the Ramapo High School graduate, who died on April 18, 2015 of an accidental drug overdose, his family started the charity to educate and raise awareness about the connection between mental illness and addiction, and help remove stigmas associated with both diseases, the organization said.

His family is committed to speaking openly about the rich and generous life and eventual passing of Macaluso and vowed to never stop fighting to educate others about the dangers of opioids, the organization said on its website.

During Tuesday's Regular Meeting, the Wyckoff Township Council approved the Macaluso family's request to run the event with start and finish lines at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School, which would necessitate the closing of various township roads.

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Macaluso family welcomes anyone and everyone to join with them to "truly make a difference," an event flyer said.
