Knife-Wielding Bandits Sought; New Info In Central Park Heist
A 37-year-old man was enjoying a quiet night in Central Park on August 1st – until he encountered a gang of bandits, that is.
CENTRAL PARK, NY – Police have released new details about the robbery that occurred in Central Park on Thursday, Aug 1.
At about 10:20 p.m., a 37-year-old man was seated on a bench on East Drive near Wollman Rink – not far from the Central Park Zoo – when he was surrounded by a large group of about 15 to 20 unidentified youths.
One of the individuals brandished a knife, while another removed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket. The group then fled the scene, later using the victim’s credit cards in a shopping spree at multiple stores, police said.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police released images of some of the group and asked that anyone with information in regard to this incident call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
