Hearing on Apartments Postponed Until August

Developer and village still working out parking details.

A public hearing on a proposed 27 apartment building on Eastern Parkway will have to wait until August.

The Farmingdale Village Board on Monday agreed to postpone a public hearing on the plan at the request of the builder. A new hearing was set for Aug. 5.

The development at the "Staller" property was delayed because of the postponement of a previously scheduled Planning Board meeting that was to take place last week.

Mayor Ralph Ekstrand said the developer is still working through details about the parking scheme for the apartment building and traffic flow concerns.

The plan under consideration would permit is for the proposed construction of a new 3 ½ story mixed-use building consisting of 27 apartments with 55 spaces to park cars at the property located at 285 Eastern Parkway.

The apartments would be in walking distance of the Long Island Rail Road train station.
