Man Found Dead After Long Island Blaze: Police

The fire started at around 4:40 a.m., Suffolk police said.

MELVIlLE, NY — Homicide and arson detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found after a Melville blaze, Suffolk police said.

A 911 caller reported a fire at the Wilmington Drive home at around 4:40 a.m. Monday, according to police.

After the fire was extinguished, a man’s body was found in the home, and his identity and cause of death will be determined during an autopsy by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal, according to police.
