HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is investigating the death of a person found stuffed inside a freezer in a Harlem apartment building on Thursday, according to a department spokesperson and reports.
Officers responded to an apartment at 3647 Broadway, located near West 150th Street, on Thursday afternoon and discovered the person's body, police said. The NYPD did not identify the person or reveal their race or gender. The city's medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said.
Police sources told the New York Post that the body was being stored inside a standing freezer that was taped shut with duct tape. The body was discovered by the son of a recently-deceased building resident who was visiting the building to pack up his mother's old belongings, according to the report. Police did not confirm these details.
