Seven Face Mask Giveaways Planned In Harlem Parks
The city plans to distributed 7.5 million face masks across New York as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

HARLEM, NY — New York City officials will be handing out face masks at seven Harlem parks in the coming days as part of an initiative to distribute millions masks to New Yorkers in an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, according to the city Parks Department website.
New York City started an initiative to give away more than 100,000 masks in city parks this week, with plans to distribute an estimated 7.5 million face coverings in coming weeks to combat the spread of the new coronavirus.
Here's a list of the planned Harlem mask giveaways:

- Marcus Garvey Park: Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Wagner Playground: Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Central Park at the Lenox Avnue Ramp: Sunday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Howard Bennett Playground: Monday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Col. Young Park: Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Cherry Tree Park: Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Morningside Park: Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Parks Department held giveaways at Poor Richard's Playground and Courtney Callander Playground on Thursday.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order in mid-April requiring New Yorkers to cover their faces in public when it isn't possible to adhere to social-distancing rules, which say to keep six feet apart from others. New Yorkers not wearing masks risk being fined by the NYPD, which issued dozens of summons for social distancing over the weekend.
