Huntington Beach Community Association Closed To Bathing
Swimming in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness and other infections, health officials warn.
HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Beach Community Association in Huntington Bay is closed to bathing because of high levels of bacteria, Suffolk County health officials stated on Friday.
Swimming in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat, county health officials said.
The beach will reopen when "further testing reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels," officials said.
