Sayville Students Gather 360 Pounds Of Food For Thanksgiving Food Drive

Lincoln Avenue Elementary's Student Council collected food for local families.

SAYVILLE, NY — Students at Lincoln Avenue Elementary School demonstrated teamwork and compassion this Thanksgiving season, collecting more than 360 pounds of food to support families in need across the community.

The initiative was led by the school’s Student Council, under the guidance of advisors Ms. Order and Ms. LoCurto. Students took charge of the entire operation — gathering donations, checking expiration dates, sorting items, decorating collection boxes with hand-drawn Thanksgiving designs, and packing family meal kits with care.

Throughout the project, students said they were proud to help others and excited to contribute to a tradition that brings the school together each year. The activity also served as a hands-on lesson in service, leadership, and gratitude.
