HUNTINGTON, NY — The 2024 D’Addario Summer Jam, which will benefit Long Island Cares, is coming.

The concert is scheduled for 6:15 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Chapin Rainbow Stage at Hecksher Park in Huntington. D’Addario is encouraging guests to bring non-perishable foods and/or a monetary donation to the event.

Last year’s concert raised more than $3,000 and collected 800 pounds of food. There will be raffles and food trucks, as well.

The concert will feature dozens of employees of D’Addario & Company, a Farmingdale-based music business that sells everything from guitar strings to woodwind reeds to drumheads.

Eight D’Addario-led bands will take the stage, playing a range of music that includes Led Zeppelin, Sublime, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and more.

Steve Mucciolo, global director of business intelligence at D’Addario and a Long Island Cares board member, organized the concert.

"Being on the board of Long Island Cares has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," Mucciolo said. "Seeing the ways that Long Island Cares supports our neighbors both in addressing hunger today but also aggressively addressing the root causes of food insecurity is inspiring and contagious. As a musician myself, to be able to raise awareness and resources while keeping music an integral part of the cause is something that I find great joy in and am proud to be a part of!"

The D’Addario Family, featuring Jim D’Addario, his son and grandsons, is headlining. Also on the bill are bands from the company’s electrical, sales and product departments.

One of the winners of the Harry Chapin "Cat’s in the Cradle" song contest is set to open the show. Robert Levey II, a 15-year-old East Islip resident, listens to Chapin and other music from the 1970s thanks to his mother, according to Long Island Cares spokesman Pete Crescenti.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America since 2020 to help raise awareness in our local communities of hunger, a persistent national problem exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks and 60,000 local meals programs across the country, estimates that nearly 34 million people, including 9 million children — about 1 in 6 Americans — are living with food insecurity. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
