HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A semi-trailer truck full of food is set to pull into the parking lot of Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The truck is bringing boxes of non-perishable food to supplement a family of four for a week, plus personal care items and toys, the South Huntington School District announced.
The stop at the high school is part of the inaugural "Holiday Blessings Tour" organized by the non-profit charitable organization God’s Blessings Plan that focuses on community development. Its mission is to show love and compassion to the most vulnerable in local communities through strategic outreach and programs that treat people with dignity without discrimination.
Through the organization’s partnership with Feed the Children and corporate sponsors, the truck is visiting four Long Island communities during the month of December. Huntington Station is the third stop. The truck will have 25-pound boxes of non-perishable food to supplement a family of four for a week, 10-pound boxes of personal care items, and toys for at least 600 families.
