Smithtown Blood Drive to Be Held Thursday

New York State Senator John Flanagan will host blood drive on June 30th.

New York State Senator John Flanagan is hosting a blood donation drive at the Smithtown Library Main Branch on Thursday, June 30.

The drive will run between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you intend to donate, the organizers ask that you schedule an appointment ahead of time.

Some restrictions apply to those who can donate. You have to be between the ages of 16 and 75 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, and you cannot donate blood if you've gotten a tattoo in the last 12 months. If you have further questions about your medical eligibility to donate, call 1-800-688-0900.

Donors must bring a photo ID that carries a signature, and they are advised to eat well and drink fluids before they give.

Anyone who donates will receive a voucher good for two tickets to a New York Mets game, a thank-you from the New York Blood Center.
