Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Arrested After 2023 Target Theft
ALSO: Mercedes Benz stolen from dealership; and graffiti of religious and political nature drawn, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Oct. 21 through Oct. 27.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Oct. 21: William Gonnelly, 67, of Bellport, stole beer, a bicycle and household items from Target in Commack on May 10, 2023, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property greater than $1,000.
Incidents
- Oct. 25: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in St. James at 9:30 p.m. Someone stole a 2024 Mercedes Benz from Mercedes Benz of Smithtown, police said.
- Oct. 25: Making graffiti was reported on Saint Nicholas Avenue at 9:11 p.m. Someone drew graffiti of a religious and political nature, police said.
