Smithtown's Great Hollow Middle School Raises $2K Against Cancer

School teams participated in various after-school sports. All proceeds went to Corey's Promise, a local cancer charity.

SMITHTOWN, NY — More than $2,000 was raised in the fight against cancer by Great Hollow Middle School in its Great Hollow vs. Cancer event, the Smithtown School District announced.

The event, organized by Great Hollow Middle School field hockey coach Colleen McKillop, features a day for the school teams to host a game, and students and faculty are invited to watch them participate in various after-school sports.

The football, boys and girls soccer teams along with the field hockey team all participated. The Great Hollow kickline and cheerleading teams also performed.

Donations came from students, teachers, staff and parents and will be sent to the nonprofit organization, Corey’s Promise.

Corey's Promise strives to help families offset the financial burdens they endure during their child's cancer diagnosis and raise awareness for pediatric cancer.
