Smithtown resident Jim Liu, 15, advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open Junior Amateur tournament after defeating 16-year-old Nicolo Galletti in the first.

Former West lacrosse standout and current Duke University player Kyle Keenan made the United States under-19 men's lacrosse team, one of 23 players selected to the squad after four days of tryouts at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
