Two Arrests Made Following June Shooting At Smithtown Bar
They are both charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
Smithtown, N. Y. — Joell Nieves, 22, of Bay Shore and Dashaun Odister, 21, of East Patchogue, have been arrested in connection with a shooting at Hypnosis 8.0, a local bar, Suffolk police said in a release Thursday.
The shooting, which took place on June 3, occurred after the bar was evacuated because of a broken water pipe. A man was shot in the leg outside the establishment and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

Nieves surrendered himself to police on June 24 after an investigation by the Fourth Squad detectives, and he was subsequently arraigned.
Odister was arrested by the Firearms Suppression Team on Montauk Highway in Bellport on July 6. He was held overnight and will be arraigned Thursday, July 7, at the First District Court in Central Islip.

Nieves was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. Odister was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He also had an active warrant out for him for deserting the military.
