Popular Oklahoma BBQ Restaurant Opens In Washington Heights
Au Jus opened on Broadway between 179th and 180th streets on Wednesday. Here's what to know.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A popular Oklahoma barbecue restaurant opened this week in Washington Heights.
Au Jus opened its third Manhattan location on Wednesday at 4232 Broadway, between West 179th and 180th streets.
The eatery serves up five-hour Italian-herbed Porchetta, pasture raised lamb, angus roast beef, fried chicken, short ribs, brisket, pulled pork, corned beef, crab cake, soups, mac'n cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, stuffing, salads, southern banana pudding, sweet potato pie, and more.

Au Jus first opened in 2012 on the Upper East Side, before opening outposts in Brooklyn, the Upper West Side, and in Harlem.
The Upper West Side Au Jus location was named among the 22 best barbecue restaurants in New York City by Eater NY.

"The hot links sandwich (tell them to hold the lettuce) is the number one thing to get, but the Sooners-style ribs and smoked bologna are also interesting, especially for barbecue enthusiasts jaded by the usual choices," Eater NY wrote at the time.
In French, Au Jus translates to "with its own juice," and revolves around the eatery's commitment to making authentic food.
"There’s something elemental about well-roasted meat: dark, crusty and seared on the outside, tender and bursting with succulent flavor and natural juices on the inside," reads a description on the eatery's website. "Roasting is simple cooking, but not ordinary."
Patrick Griffin, the founder of the restaurant, was born in Oklahoma and grew up working in family-run eateries.
The new Au Jus Washington Heights location is replacing a liquor store that closed in 2020.
