1 Dead, 2 Wounded In Weekend Shooting Near Sugar Creek Park
The late night shooting in north Charlotte left one dead and two injured, CMPD said.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have launched a homicide investigation following a shooting that left a 21-year-old man dead and two with non-life-threatening injuries.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers responded to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the Sugar Creek Community Park area of the 4000 block of Merlane Drive
Responding officers found two gunshot victims at the scene. One victim was pronounced dead by medic. CMPD later identified him as Jamias Lowon Shropshire, 21. The second victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"A short time later, a third victim arrived at Atrium University with a non-life threatening gunshot wound," CMPD said.
CMPD said an investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing and said anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
