Charlotte Airport Reduces Free Parking Time At Parking Deck

The parking deck had been free for one hour, but has changed to the first 15 minutes free, and $6 thereafter.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Travelers looking to maximize their free parking time at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport should take heed that things have changed in the past few weeks.

The first hour of free parking in the hourly parking deck is no more. Instead, just the first 15 minutes are free. It's $6 for the remaining 45 minutes of the first hour now.

Officials with the airport say the free hour was implemented when construction began on the new curb front roadway in front of the terminal in order to provide adequate capacity for customers picking up and dropping off passengers during construction.

They say the project was completed some time ago but then the airport delayed implementing this change due to COVID 19.

There are signs in place at the deck making sure people know the first 15 minutes are free for drop-offs and pick-ups, but just the cell phone lot offers free parking with no time limits.
