CMPD Identifies 18-Year-Old Gunned Down In Charlotte Parking Lot
Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was fatally shot and another left wounded early Saturday morning.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police identified an 18-year-old man they say was gunned down in a north Charlotte parking lot over the weekend, as their search for his killer continues.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 in the 1100 block of West Sugar Creek Road, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report.
CMPD officers near the scene of West Sugar Creek Road and Reagan Drive heard gunshots, and after investigating their origin, located the victim lying in a parking lot.

The officers rendered aid to the victim, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene by Medic. CMPD identified the victim as 18-year-old Jaterrious Lamont Moore, and said his family had been notified of his death.
The officers also located a second gunshot victim in the area, and said they were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, CMPD said.

"The investigation into this case is active and ongoing," police said, urging anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
