Driver Charged With Murder After Hitting Two Pedestrians

Charlotte police charged Jason Mosley with murder and said he intentionally hit two pedestrians on The Plaza Monday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A 32-year-old driver was charged with murder Monday after his vehicle struck two pedestrians, killing one victim and leaving another in critical condition.

The collision occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of The Plaza, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

According to a CMPD account, the pedestrians were hit by a 2015 Kia Soul driven by Jason Mosley, 32, who remained at the scene.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Kendra Bagwell, 26, was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival at the hospital, CMPD said. The second victim, who was not identified by police, remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.

Following an investigation, "detectives determined Mosley intentionally caused the collision to harm to the victim(s)," CMPD said. CMPD charged Mosley with murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries and driving while impaired.

CMPD said the investigation into the case remained active and ongoing, and said anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
