Harris Teeter Offers Grocery Workers $100 To Get COVID Vaccine
"We are strongly encouraging all of our associates and shoppers to receive the vaccine as soon as they are eligible," the company said.
CHARLOTTE, NC — In a bid to encourage its workforce to get the coronavirus vaccine, Harris Teeter is offering its workers a $100 bonus for rolling up their sleeves and getting the shot, it announced.
"To further show our gratitude and help move closer to an end to this pandemic, Harris Teeter recently announced a payment of $100 to any valued associate who receives the full manufacturer-recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine," the company said in a statement.
The incentive program instituted by the North Carolina-based grocery chain follows other COVID-19 era initiatives, such as worker bonuses and increased pay, and is an effort to prioritize the safety of its workers and store shoppers, it said.

The grocer is not alone in offering cash to workers to get the shot. Trader Joe's Dollar General, and Aldi are also offering incentives, according to WJZY.
Currently, North Carolina is vaccinating those 65 and older, healthcare workers with in-person patient contact and long-term care facility staff and residents.
As of Feb. 8, the state had administered 103 percent of its federal supply of first doses and about 59 percent of the second doses on hand, according to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
