Missing Charlotte Woman With Dementia Located In Gastonia

CHARLOTTE, NC — A Silver Alert issued for a 68-year-old woman with dementia who was reported missing from her east Charlotte home Monday evening has been cancelled, police said Tuesday.

Linda Marinello was reported missing by a family member Monday evening around 7 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. The family member told police that when they returned home, they discovered that Marinello was not there. "When the family was unable to locate her, they called 911," CMPD said.

Police said Marinello was last known to be in her home in the 1500 block of Redcoat Drive between 4 p.m and 5 p.m. She was last seen wearing a blue Carolina Panthers sweatshirt, jeans and blue shoes. Marinello was also thought to be driving a maroon 2008 Honda Accord with NC tag MARNELLO, police said.

Tuesday morning, police said Marinello was located in Gastonia when she was spotted by an alert community member who contacted police.

"Officers were able to make a traffic stop and make contact with Mrs Marinello," CMPD said. "Her family has been notified that she has been located."
