NC's Rev. Dr. William Barber To Deliver Inauguration Homily

NORTH CAROLINA — North Carolina preacher and political activist, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II is set to deliver a sermon during an interfaith prayer service marking the inauguration of President Joe Biden at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Thursday.

Barber, who is pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina, is nationally known for his work leading the Poor People's Campaign.

During the Inaugural Prayer Service Thursday, Barber will be joined by other liberal faith leaders, including Rev. Jim Wallis, Sister Carol Keehan, Rev. Otis Moss III, as well as others from Union Theological Seminary and Claremont School of Theology, the Washington Post reported.

"We have serious work to do now, America," Barber said in a Jan. 17 sermon. "If we’re going to change this nation for the good, it’s going to require moral fusion organizing and alliances that come together in order to call the nation to repentance and restoration and reconstruction."
