Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- The City of Marietta is keeping its tradition alive by bringing back its downtown cash mobs to hopefully increase awareness of local businesses. To participate, locals gather together to guess which places they'll be visiting, and once the first person gets it right, they will receive a gift card to that location. The overall goal is to encourage people to spend their money, get out, and learn more about some of the amazing shops Marietta has to offer residents. (WTAP)
- Marietta High School senior and star swimmer William Palmer has officially signed with Shawnee State University in Portsmouth to continue his swimming career. He plans to study computer engineering and also has dreams of becoming an integral member of the Shawnee State Bears swimming team. (WTAP)
- The Washington County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to be mindful of a recent tax scam that has come to their attention. The scammer is claiming to be a tax expert named Cindy who asks individuals to enroll in a program for taxpayers who owed money on taxes this year. The sheriff's office says that if you are contacted by this person, let the department know immediately. (WTAP)
