Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- Marietta High School's Cheerleading Squad won its first championship title earlier this month at the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) Cheerleading Championship. In the 30 years since the OASSA started, the Tiger Squad has never won the state championship title. Game Day Captain Elizabeth Haller said of the win, "We were thinking about how proud we were of our team, but also because this was such a feat that no one has done before in the cheerleading program at Marietta. It was nice to know that we were making our alumni proud, and anyone else that had been in the program before, helped us, or supported us over the years." (WTAP)
- Marietta is seeking public input for the city's active transportation plan during two upcoming public open houses. The plan will outline the future of transportation projects for pedestrians and other non-vehicular uses over the next five or so years. The first open house is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Marietta armory. (WTAP)
- On Thursday, Mar. 16, the Marietta College baseball team won its fifth straight game with its recent 5-3 win against New Jersey City University. The game, which was part of the BSN SPORTS Invitational, moves the Pioneers up to 9-4 and New Jersey City down to 4-4 overall. Marietta College went up next against Kalamazoo College on Friday evening. (The Marietta Times)
