Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- Oh baby! Washington County officially welcomed its first baby of 2023. Jakin Ezekiel Jenkins was born at 5:45 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital on the first of January. His family hails from Little Hocking. (Marietta Times)
- In nearby Parkersburg, a house caught on fire on Tuesday night near an elementary school. The Broadway Avenue home is across the street from Fairplains Elementary School, so firefighters were particularly keen to get the fire under control. - Drug overdoses are becoming a major crisis in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Overdoses have increased from this past weekend, with eight since Dec. 19.
