  1. At a Marietta City Council meeting, locals spoke out about the dangerous conditions and disrepair of George Street, calling on the council to improve it. The street's condition was described as a barrier to business, with narrowness and parked cars making it difficult for visitors to navigate. Members of the Washington County Historical Society were among those who called for repairs to the sidewalk, retaining wall, and drainage system, as well as repaving the street to make it wider for better access. 2. The Highmark Foundation purchased a new Panorama X-ray machine for the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department's Wood County office to provide dental services for those in need, replacing the previous machine that broke down in December. The new machine can perform proper diagnosis of cavities for the Smiles for Life program, which is a dental screening and referral program open to low-income adults and children who meet income guidelines, and also offers fluoride varnish and dental sealants. Washington County Ohio and West Virginia residents are eligible for this service. (WTAP)
  3. Today, Apr. 22, stop by the Marietta Walmart to turn in your unused medication as part of the semi-annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. From 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., participants can use the pharmacy entrance of the Walmart located at 804 Pike St. to safely and responsibly dispose of their prescription drugs. Numerous additional collection sites are available; learn more here. (Parkersburg News)
