Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. The Marietta City Council is adding a familiar face to fill in after Susan Boyer's resignation went into effect on Feb. 28. This past Wednesday, Harley Noland was appointed an at-large seat on the council until the two-year term wraps up on Dec. 31. With an abundance of experience on the board as well as familiarity in the community, officials hope Noland will play a role in bringing in new and younger people to come to live in Marietta. (Marietta Times)
  2. Officers from the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a severe crash on Thursday afternoon located on Township Road. Stephen Jenkins, 25, was driving northbound when he drove off the left side of the road and overturned the vehicle. Jenkins was taken to the Marietta Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials are investigating the crash and allegedly do not suspect alcohol to be a factor. (WTAP)
  3. The Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force announced that they had successfully executed a drug bust on Tuesday and arrested two individuals in Muskingum Township an hour away from Marietta. Officials arrested Corey Sapp Jr. and Felisha Casto for multiple charges, including possession of drugs and an active warrant for Casto under Morgan County. The search warrant was executed without incident and the two suspects are currently being held on bond in Washington County Jail. (WTAP)
