Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. The Kiwanis Club of Marietta will be getting its historic marker restored. The marker was originally erected in 1990 near the Muskingum River. The marker honors the founding of Marietta, originally called "Adelphia." (Marietta Times)
  2. On Thursday morning, a request from the Washington County Home to hire a new medical director was approved by the Washington County Commissioners. The previous medical director's contract had expired and the County Home used it as an opportunity to reevaluate the position. The contract for the new director will be for one year. (Parkersburg News)
  3. The Marietta College men's baseball team reached a school and Ohio Athletic Conference record score of 31-6 in a victory over La Roche. The team hit 11 doubles during the game and batted 31 runs total. The victory puts the Etta Express at a record of 13-2. (Marietta Times)

  • Marietta Main Street is launching a new effort to support the investments of a downtown building and business owners in public art. Art Local, a new grant program hosted by the downtown nonprofit, will match dollars of up to $1,500 or 50 percent for interior and exterior art projects on downtown buildings. (Facebook)
  • Marietta College senior Gwen Sour made her directorial debut with "Reefer Madness" on Friday. (Marietta College)
