  1. The Amputee Center, a nonprofit in nearby Parkersburg that opened in April 2021, recently received a $15,000 grant from the Bernard-McDonough Foundation in March. The center, which is the first nonprofit in the U.S. to offer a physical location for amputees to meet and access various resources, plans to use the funding to offer free classes and lower class prices to amputees. The center serves amputees in the Mid-Ohio Valley area. (Marietta Times)
  2. Around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, fire officials responded to a brush fire that occurred down the road in Wood County, West Virginia, which drew crews from four local fire departments to help contain the blaze. The fire broke out on a hillside and spread quickly due to windy conditions, but it was eventually brought under control by the responding firefighters. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently unknown. (Parkersburg News)
  3. The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Marietta Post is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred on State Route 530 on Saturday night. The accident resulted in the death of one person who was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time. (WTAP)
