Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. Marietta College and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive today on campus. The blood drive will be held on Court 1 in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Schedule an appointment by texting BLOODAPP to 90999 or by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App on the App Store or Google Play. 2. On Saturday, Marietta hosted its annual Ice Festival, which featured 16 ice sculptures. As part of the celebration, Marietta Main Street brought in Whistler Ice Works’ Tyson Whistler to sculpt ice for local small businesses. Whistler crafted a swordfish from two 300-pound blocks of ice during Saturday’s live demonstration, which he had estimated would last the weekend so long as temperatures remained. 3. On Sunday, a Marietta College student organization hosted a self-care event recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The group, Marietta Mindset, hosted a Self-care Sunday event featuring rock painting and writing letters of gratitude. According to Club president Colin Walters, the rocks decorated with positive messages will "be placed around campus, just hopeful and encouraging messages so people can have their days lifted. And then the letters are being sent to other admin and teachers." (WTAP)
