Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- Wish a happy birthday to the City of Marietta this week! On Friday, Apr. 7 at 7:00 a.m., the city will celebrate its 235th birthday. A traditional flag-raising performed by Marine Corps League Attachment 1436 will be held at the Start Westward Memorial in Muskingum park to kick off the celebration. Everyone is invited to join the city in the many events that will happen this weekend to celebrate. (WTAP)
- The Marietta College women's softball team is on an eight-game winning streak after sweeping Ohio Northern in a doubleheader on Sunday here in Marietta. The Pioneers will play their next game at Mount Union today, but their next home game will be on Friday, Apr. 7 at 1:00 p.m. (Parkersburg News)
- After many years of planning and renovation, the Discovery World Market in nearby Parkersburg held its grand opening on Sunday. The museum is made up of four floors that each have its own separate theme and is filled with interactive and educational activities. Before heading over to Parkersburg, the museum encouraged attendees to check the center's hours as they may fluctuate during the opening month. (WTAP)

- Marietta College’s Board of Trustees member George W. Fenton has been selected to receive the 2023 Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges' Earl F. Morris Trustee Award.
