- Marietta College will be hosting the final round of the 2022-23 PioBiz Competition on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Timothy O. Cooper Auditorium on campus. The final round is free to attend, and any member of the public is welcome. At the end of the round, the judges will allocate an amount of up to $3,000 to award the top two business plan ideas. - Jordana Bungard, the owner of West Side Sign Company, will be installing a new mural in the historic Harmar Village here in Marietta today, Apr. 18, starting at 9:00 a.m. The mural will be going up on the side of the National Labors Union Building 639 to honor the 110th anniversary of the B&O Railroad Bridge reconstruction following the great flood of 1913. Bungard plans to work on the mural throughout the day, and Historic Harmar Bridge Company board members and volunteers will be present at noon and again at 5:00 p.m. to sell 2023 Harmar Days Festival raffle tickets and to teach others about the restoration efforts on the bridge. - Over the weekend, the Empty Bowls Luncheon returned to its first in-person event since the pandemic. The fundraising event, which aims to raise money and supplies to aid with food insecurity in the surrounding area, took place on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church here in Marietta and marked the 20th in-person annual event. The food served during the event was all donated by multiple local restaurants and churches. (News and Sentinel)
