- On Saturday, Apr. 24, Marietta held its 24th Annual Earth Day celebration on the Armory Lawn. The event was free to community members and surrounding residents as hundreds came out to participate in various educational activities and enjoy some relaxing live music. Kathy Ortt of the Marietta Earth Day committee said that the goal of the event each year is to continue educating residents about the importance of preserving our environment while being able to have a little fun. - The Marietta City Council officially passed an ordinance to enter into a contract with a company that's set to handle the crushed sewer line from when the river trail collapsed. Originally, Marietta installed a temporary sewer line in its place, but if the pump continues to worsen, this could lead to backup in people's basements or wherever their sewer connection is located inside their homes. The city terminated its contract with a previous vendor due to certain issues and is currently filing a lawsuit against them. (WTAP)
