Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. At a special meeting on Wednesday night, Marietta’s local teacher union, The Marietta Education Association, gave a vote of no confidence for Superintendent Will Hampton. Three-quarters of the union cast their vote, and 78 percent of that group voted in favor of no confidence. The union was reportedly upset over Hampton’s "lack of planning and communication," as well as contract negotiations. (WTAP-TV)
  2. Marietta In Bloom took out a special ad in the Marietta Times to thank local area top plant growers. It specifically mentioned Hucks Farm & Greenhouse, Bob’s Market, Greenleaf, and Haessly Hardwoods. (Marietta Times)
  3. Marietta running enthusiasts are in for a treat today. As a follow up to last night's special banquet hosted by The River City Runners and Walkers Club of Parkersburg, keynote speaker Charlie Engle, also known as the "Running Man," will be doing a "four or five-mile" run this morning with the Mid-Ohio Valley running community. The run will begin at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta at 9 a.m. (WTAP-TV)
