Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- The Marietta Shrine Club recently donated $6,000 – for the second time – to Memorial Health System's Department of Pediatric Therapy. The newest donation will help fund the purchasing of equipment for a new pediatric therapy location down the road in Belpre on Washington Boulevard. Department Supervisor Carol Armann said, "Marietta Shrine Club has been a faithful financial (supporter) of the Pediatric Therapy Department for over 25 years." (Subscription: The Marietta Times)
- Middle school students from nearby Vienna donated 70 handmade quilts to the Eve Shelter in Marietta. The students decide to make the quilts for those served by the shelter when a fellow student talked about his experiences at the shelter. Seventh grader Benson DeBoard said, "On the blankets we wrote, ‘In a time of need, give this blanket a squeeze,'" The shelter will share the quilts with the Family Crisis and Prevention Center in nearby Parkersburg. - The 2023 Marietta Bridal Show took place this past weekend on Jan. 8. The event at Marietta College's Dyson Baudo Recreation Center helped local businesses showcase their services and offered the opportunity for soon-to-be-married couples to browse vendors for their wedding plans. (WTAP)
