Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. It was originally reported on Tuesday that a body was found near Beach Drive in nearby Belpre in the Ohio River. However, officials recently reported that the remains they thought were human are actually the carcass of a deer. The Little Hocking dive team helped to discover the remains, and first responders are attempting to recover them. (WTAP)
  2. A Washington County man was recently arrested for attempted murder, according to officials. Stockport resident Dale Henry Pugh, 70, was arrested for attempting to shoot a relative. He's currently being held in Washington County jail following his arrest. (WTAP)
  3. Students and faculty will be pleased upon returning from spring break to see that repairs have begun at Washington Elementary School. Principal Cheryl Cook announced that whatever flooring work isn't completed over the break will be completed in the evenings while students are still in school. The 111-year-old school has had planks of wood held together with yellow safety tape and dehumidifiers to mitigate some of the damage in the meantime. (Marietta City Schools)
