Pittsburgh-Area Convenience Store Slapped With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Dollar Tree, on Heisel Street in Homestead, for health code violations.
An inspection on Thursday revealed there were are crumbs and fresh mouse droppings on several shelves of the end cap at the back of the store where wafers and bagel chips are located.
Droppings were also seen on bottom shelf in candy aisle and near the front registers.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.
If the problems are not corrected within that 10-day window, the business could be ordered to close.
