Pittsburgh-Area State Trooper Killer Sentenced

The person who killed an off-duty Pennsylvania State Trooper last year has learned his sentencing fate.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The person who killed an off-duty Pennsylvania State Police liquor control enforcement officer along the Montour Trail in October 2024 has been sentenced to prison, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office has announced.

Anthony Quesen, who pleaded guilty but mentally ill in August to a third-degree homicide charge, will spend 16-to-42 years in prison.

Quesen killed Benjamin Brallier, 44, of Coraopolis, who was found with stab wounds along the Montour Trail near the 1900 block of Hassam Road, where he had been jogging. The more than
20-year state police veteran was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police found Quesen about a third of a mile from the crime scene, with cuts on his hands and blood stains on his clothes.
