Pittsburgh Frigid Cold Snap: Here's When It Will End

Sick of the frigid temperatures in the Pittsburgh area? Find out here when they will moderate.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Dozens of Western Pennsylvania school districts cancelled or delayed classes on Monday as an arctic air blast brought subzero wind chills to the region following a significant snow storm on Saturday.

Adding to the woes: According to the National Weather Service, a light coating of snow with isolated snow showers may create hazardous travel.

The high temperature today is expected to be around 20, with wind chills as low as three below zero. According to the weather service, the average daily maximum temperature based on 1981-2010 statistics is 39 degrees.

So when will temperatures begin to warm up? Thankfully, warmer weather is on the way.

Tuesday's predicted high is 34 degrees and there will be mostly sunny skies. On Wednesday, the expected high is 42, with cloudy skies and wind gusts as high as 22 mph. On Thursday, temperatures will rise into the low 50s with showers likely.

Although the forecast is encouraging, multiple warming centers are open in Pittsburgh on Monday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
