PITTSBURGH PA — The Allegheny County health Department has issued a consumer alert for Kung Fu Kitchen on Bellefonte Street in Shadyside following a recent inspection.

Inspectors found multiple live roaches in the kitchen in the following areas:

  • Under the cook line.
  • Under the dish machine.
  • In the control panel of the dish machine.
  • On top of the dish machine.
  • In the container of flour used to bread meats for frying.

Additionally, roach droppings were observed on dishes stored on the shelves under the prep tables of the cook line.

  • Under the cook line.
  • Under the dish machine
  • To the left of the chest freezer in front of the kitchen door.
  • In the rear prep room along the exterior wall.
  • In the dry storage room along the exterior wall.
  • In the basement on top of the water heater and on the floor.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

If the problems are not corrected within that 10-day window, the business could be ordered to close.
