• East Providence police peacefully resolve standoff (wpri.com) — East Providence police safely ended a Saturday morning standoff with a resident experiencing a mental health crisis, with no injuries and no criminal charges. Pleasant Street and Newman Avenue were briefly closed, but officers say the public was never in danger and thanked nearby neighbors for tolerating early-morning loudspeakers and sirens.

• R.I. homeless care providers left waiting after HUD rescinds grant notice to rewrite its rules • Rhode Island Current (rhodeislandcurrent.com) — A major East Providence-based foster youth agency, Foster Forward, is caught in limbo after HUD abruptly pulled back a planned overhaul of its homeless grant program.
