Guests Soak Up New Renovations at Newport's Hotel Viking
As it approaches its 90th birthday, Hotel Viking is fresh off a quick but extensive renovation.

NEWPORT, RI—Successful hotels in Newport keep investing in their property. That's what keeps a business alive and thriving. And it's what has kept the historic Hotel Viking in Newport going for 90 years.
As the hotel marks its anniversary this May, its owners are celebrating new renovations completed in time for the busy summer season.
The project was completed in two quick months and made over its public spaces. A wall separating the lobby lounge and bar was removed to open up a space centered around a double-sided fireplace. New avant-garde fixtures, updates to the bar, lounge, self-serve coffee station and other changes will "enhance interaction and stir up conversation,” said Keith Chouinard, director of sales and marketing for Hotel Viking. “This is the place to make new friends and reconnect with old friends.”

Other changes include new menus at One Bellevue, the in-house restaurant led by Chef Barry Correia, who is focusing more attention on small plate offerings to encourage sharing.
Highlights of the new menu include new salads, soups, new butcher block steak selections, local seafood and new desserts by the hotel's pasty chef Morgan Gray.

With new flavors and the freshened up spaces, “It’s great to see people’s eyes light up when they walk in,” Chouinard said. “They’re enthusiastic and they appreciate the effort.”
